Space Weather Systems

Improved Propagation Prediction

This comprehensive 3-D ray tracing program models radio wave propagation through the ionosphere. Developed from ground up, the program takes advantage of recent Internet technology. It can accept any 3-D ionospheric model or ionospheric specification from the RTIC system. It provides the HF/VHF propagation through the ionosphere, computing both ground-based and satellite-borne nodes. The propagation modeler utilizes full magneto-ionic properties of the ionosphere. The predicted parameters include:

  • E and H field strengths
  • Ray paths
  • Optimum link parameters

Transmitters and receivers can work anywhere on or above ground. This program can model antenna patterns and is integrated with the RTIC.
