Real-Time Ionospheric Characterization (RTIC)
Description
The software allows integration of many disparate types of data into the characterization of a fully 4-dimentional time-dependent ionosphere over any portion of the Earth. The user can adjust the location and size of the region of interest as well as its latitude, longitude, altitude, and time grid sizes, in real-time. The program accepts a wide variety of data including: ·
- TEC data from GPS, NNSS, or other beacon satellites
- Ionosonde data
- Radio beacon data
- Propagation data
The software assimilates all these data and generates self-consistent ionospheric profiles. Theoretical models supplement incomplete data, and substitute for absent data. Ionospheric parameters, propagation, and prediction and TEC values can also come from the 4-dimensional ionospheric characterizations.
